ICICI Bank Bans Namaz By Muslims On Its Premises

ICICI Bank is India's largest private sector bank.   Its located in Gachibowli at Nanakramguda.  ICICI Bank CEO is Chanda Kocchar.  ICICI Bank officials are N.S. Kannan, Executive Director and CFO, K. Ramkumar Executive Director and Rajiv Sabharwal, Executive Directoryderabad, August 11:

Siasat reports that there are about 750-1000 Muslim youths are employed in ICICI bank, Gachibowli located at Nanakramguda.   These employees were permitted to offer prayers in a portion of bank premises until three months back but now a ban has been imposed on offering prayers within the bank premises.

A higher official of the bank (ICICI bank) told that offering any religious ritual is against the bank rules. The Muslim employees can go elsewhere to offer their prayers since bank is not the place of worship.

A Muslim youth was dismissed from service because he met the officer of the bank to seek permission for offering prayer within the bank premises. There is no mosque in the vicinity of the bank. They have to travel 3-4 k.m. to go to mosque. It may be noted that many famous IT companies located in Hi-Tech city permit their employees to offer prayers within the company premises. The bank authorities can resolve this problem by allocating some place for Muslim employees to offer prayers.
